Orr is out

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Seton Hall will not offer men's basketball coach Louis Orr a contract extension and will immediately begin the search for a new head coach, it was announced today by Director of Athletics Joe Quinlan. Seton Hall will fulfill the remaining terms of Orr's contract. "I have evaluated the basketball program thoroughly and discussed it with Louis," Quinlan said. "As a result, we could not agree on critical issues related to the management of the program. "Seton Hall holds Louis, his character and his faith, in the highest personal regard. For all he and his staff have accomplished, we stand grateful. "We now begin the search for a new coach. My focus will be to attract candidates who share our vision and can position Seton Hall basketball to achieve consistent success in the nation's best conference," Quinlan stated. Orr was 80-69 in five years as Seton Hall's head coach, with a record of 37-41 in BIG EAST Conference play. He came to SHU in 2001 after one year as head coach of Siena. The Pirates finished 18-12 in 2005-06 and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Wichita State on Mar. 16.
