Copeland proving the doubters wrong...
Seton Hall has stared the season off with a 6-2 record helped by a friendly out of conference schedule but when you look at the numbers the biggest reason for the record is the huge improvement from senior point guard
Donald Copeland
.
Copeland has come under fire from many Seton Hall fans in his career for not being a pure point guard and making the players around him better but this season finds Donald providing the missing scoring punch from last year’s team. “Cope” is averaging 15 PPG while shooting 46.7% from the field and a red hot 43.6% from the three-point line. He is also averaging a team leading 4 assists per game and 1.6 steals per. Copeland’s turnovers are still very high at 3 per game, which he needs to have come down dramatically.
Copeland has been on a tear recently as he has scored 20 plus in 4 of the last 6 games. He managed a 25-point career high game in his last effort against Tulane this Sunday. For this team to have a successful year it needs Copeland to continue this level of play.
Can Seton Hall finish above .500 and play in a postseason tournament with the expected addition of transfer
Mike Pilgrim
on Sunday and the improved play of Copeland? That’s the question all the Seton Hall fans are asking right now.
Shakes’ take- Donald has been proving the doubters wrong all year. I think if Copeland can get his Assist to Turnover ration close to 2 to 1 along with maintaining his current scoring pace I believe they have a chance to finish over the magic .500.
